Meadow the Fawn
My little girl and I have always joked about catching a fawn. It all began one summer when we saw one on the side of the road. I thought it was one of those cement statues until it moved! Ever since then my little darling has been plotting and scheming on how she would catch one, and keep it for herself. I always told her if she can get it in the back seat and strapped in (without leaving anyone behind) that she could keep it!
So there I was, radio cranked listening to Adel, heading out to get my daughter at a playdate. When all of a sudden I see a flash in front of me. Now growing up in a small town full of apple orchards, I knew before they came into focus exactly what they were. Four deer just about to cross the street from woods into the meadow across the way.
So I turned down the radio and we proceeded to have a staring contest. The saying "deer in the headlights" is right on. I however won the contest. One by one they scavenged for a bit in the woods, then slowly and quite bravely they bound for the open meadow.
I watched as they played with each other for a bit, prancing and jumping on each other gently. Then it was time to get a move on. Lets not forget I was trespassing on their territory. So I slowly pulled away and went about my business.
On the way back my daughter wanted me to stop in the field as she had some ideas of grandeur. "We can lure the baby deer into the back seat with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Then it can sleep on my bed with me." Thank goodness they had departed the field by the time we doubled back. I'm afraid of what a deer would do in my home. Can you just imagine what would happen when if it grew antlers? How on earth would she catch it if they can run 30 mph?
This mask and tail is made of soft recycled felt. It has an elastic at the back to grow with your child. The tail has a loop that will allow a belt thru it and your belt loop so it will stay centered . This set will provide hours of fun and entertainment while encouraging you little one to use his imagination at the same time. Tail is 9 inches long with the tab.
Deer fun: Do some reasearch on the white tail deer. What is the difference between a fawn, buck and a doe? What do they eat? How big do they get and in what type of habitat do they live?
***This listing is for one fawn set only. Thanks!**
**Meadow has undergone a bit of a facelift over the summer, please note you will receiver the fox mask with the protruding snout. Photos with the "flat" mask are for sizing reference and has been discontinued. This new design allows for a more realistic look.**

My masks fit children and adults alike. I use a base pattern with a set eye size and spacing. The elastic at the back is approximately 12 inches long for all masks. This is for a fit on different faces, it may be big on a smaller tike or tighter on an adult head. Therefor I consider it one size fits most. The outline of the piece does vary slightly depending on the animal. For instance the fox has whiskers so it's a bit wider than the chicken because it's shape is more rounded. Please refer to photos, no photos available? Send me a convo and I'm happy to help. My pieces are designed for fun and function. Most masks have 2-4 layers of fabric. There are times when all those layers won't work with a design and a single layer will be used.
I use Eco-fi felt that is a material made from recycled plastics. It's surprisingly soft and cleans up well with some mild soap and water.
Because I am a one woman working machine I only consider smaller wholesale orders here. Contact me for more information.
I rarely take on custom orders because it is not cost effective for me. I cut and sew in bulk for my pieces. However if you would like something like a larger elastic or a ribbon instead of the elastic I use than I am happy to accommodate for this type of change.
Each tail has a tab that fits around a pant loop. A belt or sash is then threaded through the normal loops of the pants and it secures the tail into place. Its a two part system for security and allows for fun movement.
All of the crown headpieces can be customized to fit your child's head...just put your child's head measurement in the notes section of your order (in inches please!) and I'll make sure its a nice custom fit! For accurate measuring use a tape measure or a string (compare against a ruler when you are done) going around the crown of your child's head where a baseball hat would lay. Viola!
